Norman Hilton AW10 Look Book
Norman Hilton was a leading natural-shoulder brand sold at many campus shops and regional clothiers during the heyday of the Ivy Look. After decades of serving as a custom suit label in his son Nick Hilton’s Princeton shop, Nick gently announced the relaunching of the Norman Hilton brand to a whisper of fan fare last fall. Trad blogs like Christian Chensvold’s Ivy Style covered the soft launch in extensive detail. After the initial batch of jackets was announced in mid October, the gentlemen of Prepidemic and I quickly got to work on creating the visual identity of the inaugural collection. We shot on location at Hilton’s alma mater, Princeton University, in the thick of autumn with the ideal Norman Hilton guy—a young man going places.

FEC - will Ben Silver also be selling the Black and Orange Rugby? Would love to wear that and show my tiger pride.

Great photos, there’s nothing like an academic scene, especially princeton. The styling is great, very reminiscent to preplee.com

Great photos—evocative of some of the things I like best about New England, too.

killer shoot, Fred. Highly styled, but subtle and still masculine. Great job. What kind of shoes is the model wearing?

I don’t comment often, only if compelled. Your photos are art. You are gifted. The clothing is outstanding. A+

This is great! I can hardly wait to see what spring has in store. You probably already knew this, but the top photo is featured in Valet, you do get around!

@cds—The pants are a wool plaid trouser.
@Matthew—You will be able to pick up the upcoming spring collection through Ben Silver in Charleston, SC.
@Glenn Kimmell—This project was commissioned by Norman Hilton.
@Anonymous—I own one of these beautiful sport-coats and I can assure they are no where near Thom Browne territory (unless you choose to get it tailored that way).
@mjl—This is the 2010 line that was launched last October. The spring collection is just around the corner.

Sorry I’m lost here, is this a spec assignment to present to Norman Hilton for potential fashion photography work? Nice photos, kind of been-there-seen-it layout, also copy weak. Just a comment from this creative director.

Everything looks fantastic (the photography, the scenery, the model, the rest of the clothes), except for one small but important aspect. The jackets look far too small, almost Thom Browne-ish.

is this a late 2010 or a 2011 line to look forward to? i still write 2010 everywhere.

Like the detail of the collar fastener being stowed inside the jacket (9th pic from top).

Wow - Outstanding work, Fred. Norman Hilton is always a tag I look for while thrifting. Good to see they are getting back in the game.

@Palmer Woodrow—Ben Silver does not sell this particular orange/black rugby. I believe this one is by Rugby Ralph Lauren.
@David—The pheasant tie is by Ralph Lauren.
@rSl—I can’t say with certainty what shoes we used during the shoot.
