J.McLaughlin Summer 12 Lookbook
It’s December and sunny with a high of seventy-five. The rhythmic hum of gulf waves acquiesce with the erratic buzz of electric golf carts. Boca Grande, the small residential community on Gasparilla Island in southwest Florida, is second (or third) home to the affluent, former Presidents, and the like. It largely remains a “one road town” and that’s the way everyone likes it. There isn’t a single stop light in sight and no one is ever in a rush. It’s the perfect playground for the J.McLaughlin girl. The community eagerly played host to the J.McLaughlin summer campaign I was shooting. And even though I was working long days, Boca Grande has a way of slowing you down just enough to really be in the moment.

Love the KEP Designs jewelry with these fun new patterns! We will be in Boca Grande as well for a KEP trunk show in March. What amazing photos—looks like a great time.

I love these prints and colors, but when I looked on their website, credit card in hand, I couldn’t find any of these items. What gives?

Love the skirt in the second row, far left photo. And the photos themselves are gorgeous, a nice peek into summer from the middle of a dreary (but mostly snowless) New England winter.

love the bags, love the shoes, love it! love everything. I am going to Boca Grande on Tuesday and cannot wait! It is an amazing place I grew up wintering with my grandparents. Amazing photos, and need to get that coral dress. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great shots. Old florida can’t be beat when it comes to charm. Just an hour south of Sarasota. Do stop by Sarasota sometime and it out!

@FEC: About how many hours of sunlight did you get on an average working day? Shooting in Florida, it seems like you’d have at least four or five hours of excellent afternoon light a day.

I don’t see any of these clothes at the J.McLaughlin website. Where can I find these pieces?

Lovely. She looks the sort of girl who’d start pestering me at the bar non-stop, but if she’s wearing that J.McLaughlin kit I’d probably take her a bit more seriously. Well done.

Coral & Navy - classic for spring. Spring forward - hello sunshine!

Beautiful shots—they have that light but fleeting feeling of a really good summer.

Here’s to that, AEV. Beautiful swatches and fabrics (and can even put up with the alternative colored cuffs), but what a poorly fitting shirt.

Terrific photos. Why won’t J. McLaughlin improve the fit of their men’s clothes?

I’m adding that ombre ribbon skirt and the chevron tunic to my summer wish-list. Gorgeous photos!

GORGEOUS images, Castleberry, and I’d wear every single outfit in the entire collection. Beautiful work.

@Bing—Thank you. I used natural light throughout the entire shoot.

Unreal work - you’ve really mastered your genre. If you’re using anything other than natural light in all your photos, it’s naturalistic enough that you can’t pick out where an off-camera light might be.
