Duck, Duck, Goose
Photographed in New York by Sara Kerens
Noteworthy: vintage university stripe wool scarf (The Quality Mending Co. on Prince St. usually has a tightly curated selection for under $80), Canada Goose down parka (opt for the Citadel model, a city-suitable slimmer version of their iconic Expedition Parka). Collegiate sportswear, tailored clothing, and technical outerwear can be mixed together without being heavy-handedly "preppy."

FEC and Friends,
Please help. New England is long this time of year and we are looking for a preppy place in Florida. I have only been able to come up with Palm Beach. Is there anything else? PSP

@Dan—I simply sling my tote over my shoulder onto my back and it essentially closes on itself.

only place I have ever seen Canada Goose jackets on sale was at a mining and exploration trade show in Toronto. Although only attendees had access to the sale. 20% off IIRC

How do you keep water from collecting in the tote’s open top? I’ve dashed across the street with a tote while it was raining once, and collected nearly a half inch of rain.

@Jennifer—Haha, hardly. I paid the same retail price everyone else does…I’ve been told Canada Goose jackets never go on sale (which is the primary indicator in protecting yourself against fakes).
@James—While the jacket isn’t advertised as water proof, it’s water-resistant as it’s coated in Teflon. If you could see the image in more detail, you’d see that the light rain is rolling off my jacket. The reason I chose to wear this jacket over my Barbour is because it was borderline freezing. This rain turned into snow an hour later.

The jacket isn’t waterproof or even water resistant. Why would you wear it in the rain?

@WMM—I don’t own or carry briefcases. The tote is waxed cotton and I have my camera, a book, and other daily items I have on my when I’m out.

You’d opt for a tote (in the rain) rather than a brief case for a business meeting?

@AEV—I believe I was headed to a lunch meeting on Bond Street.

Fred, for context, can you let all us know where you were headed/coming from dressed like this?

Longtime reader and first time commenter here. I love this look. Fred, what is your tote?

I like the increasing use of cuffed pants. Aren’t cuff pants nice??

Terrific look, love the contrast. I’m particularly fond of the see through frames though, nice touch.

@PSP—Boca Grande is nice this time of year. It’s on the Gulf side though.
